For the past few years, we have made a commitment: to make our company even more sustainable by valorizing by-products to optimize resources and reduce waste by reusing residues.
Every day, about 3.1 billion cups of coffee are consumed worldwide, which gives us a clear idea of the enormous amount of waste that can result from its roasting process and how the fate of this waste takes on a very significant economic, physical, and environmental weight.
With a circular economy in mind, we use coffee silver skin, the semi-transparent film that covers the raw coffee bean and which until recently was considered “waste”, through the process of “anaerobic digestion”, along with other plant by-products available depending on the season, for the production of BIOGAS; a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide used for the production of clean renewable energy.
